Show & Tell: Girl Scout Cookies

Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Shortbreads are just a few of my favorite things! Or at least, my favorite Girl Scout Cookies! It's been a few years since I've actually had any Girl Scout Cookies. I just haven't seen any out and about during the time they sell them. Good for my waistline and wallet, bad for my cravings.

When I saw they had Girl Scout Cookie ice cream, I fell in love.

Can you imagine my surprise when I found comparable cookies at Dollar General (of all places!)?

Their Fudge Peanut Butter cookies are similar to Tagalongs, but with a little bit more peanut butter. The Fudge Caramel Coconut cookies are similar to Samoas but with a little more cookie. The Mint Thin cookies are similar to, obviously, the Thin Mints, but with a white cookie instead of chocolate.

Although nothing truly tastes like a Girl Scout Cookie except, well, a Girl Scout Cookie, these are definatly a comparable cookie in taste especially at $1.85 a box, when you can't find the real thing.

What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie?

Mine are the Samoas. My hubby just brought home a few boxes from someone selling them for their child at work. YUMMY!

I think it is funny....Here in KS our Girl Scouts call them Peanut Butter Patties, and Caramel Delights. Not Tagalongs and Samoas. Isn't that funny that they change the names for the locations. Anyway, my favorites right now are the Lemonades. Yum.

Wow, what a deal. I've found recipes online for making your own Girl Scout Cookies.

I think most of the girl scout cookies we have here in Canada are different. I love the oreo-like ones we get here... put them in the freezer and they are amazing.

Having access to those year round would definitely be a problem. Thin mints rule, definitely.

Love me some thin mints! They are the best when you take a bit out of opposing side and then use them as a straw in your milk. MMMMMMMM
